Mehndi, also known as henna, is used to adorn brides prior to the ceremony in South Asia, Middle East, and North African countries. I have seen Mehndi in many lovely and intricate designs but never have I seen it in white as it is on this brides arm. What an equally elegant alternative to the deep reddish brown colors often used. Beautiful! What do you think?

…. white is NOT mehndi because it isn’t the same plant.
but overlooking that, it’s pretty :)

All the lights are getting set up, in the city, the town common, on lawns…so lovely. Mmmm.

when i was younger, my family took on this season with the fervor of any youthful family. we would go on drives through towns in the countryside by the mountains to see the big insane fairy lights and decoration displays. we’ve gone to New York on Christmas to see the tree at Rockefeller center and catch a Broadway show. We’ve made snow men out of buckets in our back yard, and decorated a Christmas tree with funny ornaments. My mother and I watch Hallmark Christmas movies every winter late at night for as far back as I can remember with hot chocolate and secret laughter.
I love that a cold and isolating time of year can actually bring people closer together than they are the rest of the 11 months. It’s almost like in December, we accept our need for community, love, and family.

Moss graffiti - mix yogurt, water and live moss in a blender, then paint onto a wall. Moss will grow in the shape of whatever you painted. Just remember to spritz it with water every once in a while to keep it alive.

I want to do this.

I want to do this. I feel like organic art is rare & meaningful in a way that normal static art isn’t. these words are living, they can grow. I feel like that makes them more lively—in that they can “die”. They can have an impact so long as they are clear, but over time the message is lost and made more fuzzy.

Inglefield Bay, Greenland.

in awe. the way the clouds look almost apocalyptic—about to sink down into the world, enveloping the glowing, fading sun.
these kind of pictures always leave me yearning for an escape… but to where? for what cause? to achieve what aim?
sometimes travel for travel’s sake is unfulfilling, but yet, the most serendipitous of ventures often bear the best outcomes.

forever in awe at those lucky few who have a way with words. I want to be a “hurricane of eloquence” like richard holbrooke was. I wish I were more deft with my fingers, quick with my tongue…

I want to be a “hurricane of eloquence” like richard holbrooke was.
I wish I were more deft with my fingers, quick with my tongue…
